5 Ways To Find Your Happy Weight

Is there a time you remember feeling your absolute best in your body? Where you had energy to conquer the world?

I’m not necessarily talking about the number so much, but a time when you felt like a million bucks! Can you remember the health and wellness habits you were consistently doing at this time… because you were likely at your happy weight!

Today I’m sharing what your “happy weight” really is and 5 ways to find your happy weight…

5 Ways To Find Your Happy Weight | C it Nutritionally by Chelsey Amer, MS, RDN, CDN

Nada one of my clients has never been on a diet. And by “diet” in this sense I mean a fad, restrictive sort of diet. So if you’re like most of my clients (and Americans), you’ve dieted before. Sadly, if you’ve dieted once, it’s likely that you’ve dieted more than once in your life (ya know, because diets don’t work!).

Overly restrictive rules lead to a breaking point where you just want to eat EVERYTHING in site. I get it. Then, you’re back at square one.

Why? When you restrict your food intake, or the energy you give your body, you can easily lose weight, but over time, your body cannot function optimally. Your car cannot run on empty and neither can your body. Eventually, you give in to your feelings of (likely ravenous) hunger and gain back the weight you lost.

And then some.

And you probably feel like crap about yourself.

AND you’ve done considerable damage to your metabolism.

While on a diet, your body is fighting to remain at its set point, or your happy weight.

The set-point theory states that each of us have a body size at which our bodies function optimally. By living a healthy, balanced lifestyle (ya know, having your cake and eating it too), you should be able to easily maintain your set-point weight. Your set-point weight doesn’t require deprivation or elimination of food groups. Rather, it requires balanced and normal eating, according to your hunger signals, which include both nourishing foods and indulgences.

So are you ready to give yourself permission to find your set-point weight? That’s the first step to settle in at your happy weight. And I get that it’s not easy… especially for chronic dieters.

I challenge you to work on shifting your mindset to discover a balance between living a healthy lifestyle and actually enjoying life – not worrying about every morsel of food you eat!
